Prepare, Don’t Despair helps ordinary households, neighborhoods and churches prepare calmly for realistic disruptions (a power outage, a wildfire evacuation, an earthquake, a water interruption, a prolonged infrastructure failure), care for one another during them, and rebuild responsibly afterward.
Its message fits in three sentences. Prepare wisely. Help your neighbors. Do not live in fear.
What this site is about
This site is about what to do. Which disruptions are likely where you live, what a household should have on hand, what changes when days become weeks, who near you may need help, and how a street or a congregation gets ready together. Every practical page sends you to the agencies whose job it is (Ready.gov, the Red Cross, the National Weather Service, your county emergency management office) for the amounts and the procedures, and says plainly what it has and has not verified.
Short emergencies are mostly inventory problems. Long emergencies become systems and relationship problems. That sentence organizes everything here: the early pages are about inventory, and the later ones are about systems and relationships.
What this site believes
This site has a Christian foundation. It becomes more visible as you move from the practical pages toward community, service, faith and hope, because that is where the questions it answers stop being about supplies and start being about people. No visitor needs to share those beliefs to benefit from any page on it. A neighbor who does not share them is still a neighbor, and the water, the plan and the check-in work the same for everyone.
It does not predict disasters, sell anything, recommend products by brand, or teach tactics. It is not a survivalist site. It looks like what it is for: capable, calm people preparing together.
